What went down and how we did

EGGFest, for the uninitiated, is a day filled with grill smoke and the smell of delicious food in the air as a number of cooking teams come together to put our their best in order to impress event-goers and with hopes to take home a trophy and coveted bragging rights to the people's choice award.  This event is held at Outdoor Home in Nixa, MO.

Having never had the opportunity to attend an EGGFest, we decided we wanted to take the opportunity to play with our friends. We put together a team so that we could cook and put out some yummy bites for those coming to see what kind of grill-fired culinary goodness they could get their hands on.

Going to this event is a pretty cool experience.  When you roll up in the morning to cook, there is a buzz in the morning air as the various teams are setting up their stations and getting ready to prepare their first course for the day.  The smell of fresh lit charcoal and smoke is intoxicating!

One Sept. 24th, 2022 we put out several different items throughout the day including Grandma's Cookies, Dirty Pickle Chicken Bites, Japanese Voodoo Shrimp, and Texas Queso. 

These were all really big hits with the crowd and kept us busy cooking rounds of food back to back! We hoped to put out some Tri-Tip and Chicken Wings, but we found out in real time that the crowd waned around 2:30pm even though the event went until 4pm, so now we know for next year.

All in all, we felt like we did better than we expected, bringing home 3rd Place People's Choice, which we were not expecting, so overall it was a great day.
